What is a Geofence?
Geofences are a game changing mobile app technology, enabling mobile app owners to automatically message their app users device when they enter a geofenced zone.
These messages appear in a similar way to a Push Notification but are embedded in the app rather than needing to be sent over the PN network.
The way a geofence works is when a mobile device with the geofence app enters the geofenced area, a message will appear on the screen. For example it may be a coupon or special offer near to the users location.
Geofences can be created for iPhone, iPads and Android phones and tablets.
These videos demonstrate how easy it is to setup geofences and how they will appear on your phone when entering a geofenced area.
How To Setup Geofences For Your iOS And Android Apps
To configure the geofences in your app, first navigate to your app's Dashboard and click on the Geofences link.
App Dashboard / Geofences
Next click on "Enable Geofences"
Geofences are defined by latitude and longitude coordinates and the radius of the circular area. That may sound complicated but in fact it is very simple. All you need to do is type in a street address and click search. Then decide on the radius of the area and click save.
Next you type the message you'd like to appear on the device when a user enters the geofenced zone.
Using Live Sync To Update the Geofences In Your Mobile Apps.
First you need to publish you app with Live Sync enabled. This will allow you to automatically update the geofences in you app.
Next open the IN-APP RESOURCES manager and put a check next to the file geofencingConfig.json
